The Silver Lake Area

Silver Lake is best known as a major center of the art community in Los Angeles.  In the 1920’s & 1930’s, developers were encouraged to build by the city and were attracted by the hills and the blue jewel focal point that is the Silver Lake and Ivanhoe Reservoirs.  Local realtors point out there are more architecturally significant homes per square mile in Silver Lake than in any other area of Los Angeles.  Not only was the area home to many of the early motion picture studios, numerous filmmakers, actors, and directors also lived, and continue to reside, in Silver Lake.
Silver Lake is known to locals as one of the few LA neighborhoods where you can ditch your car and walk to just about anywhere you need to go.  We are a short jaunt from the site of “Sunset Junction," the annual music and street fair Angelinos love, and we are directly across the street from the Sunday farmer's market. Just a few blocks west of Silver Lake Towers lay the intersection of Hyperion Avenue and Sunset Boulevard, home to a variety of funky shops and cafes. Silver Lake has been written up in several magazines and newspapers in recent years as the “hip” place to live – come visit us and find out why!
